Art is how I choose life. My practice is a process of inquiry starting with sensation and using automatism as a portal to a new way of seeing. Grasping at truth that resists language, layering meaning onto ideas in ways that transcend what words alone can hold. I work under the name Ethereal Portals because my subjects are drawn from dreams, mythology, and the spiritual realm — these are the thresholds I'm interested in.

To me, art is a spiritual practice that grants entry to the feeling of interconnectedness, and my artistic practice is my way of taking in and relating to the ineffable. I came to this understanding viscerally. My body was my first teacher: in my twenties, chronic pain pushed me to turn inward, to explore the subconscious not as escape but as a way to transform how I experienced sensation itself. What I found there wasn't specific to pain, but the uncovering of a simple truth — that anything can become a portal via the mind.

While I work primarily with oil paints on canvas and wood panels, experimenting with other media is an essential part of my practice. Learning how to work with new materials stimulates my creativity and brings me to new understanding.
